What were the sirens? The sirens were monstrous sea nymphs that lured sailors to their deaths. They sang an enchanting song that compelled sailors to steer into grave storms. This caused the sailors to shipwreck on their island. The sirens were the daughters of Achelous. Many movies bring their own touch and opinions to what

the sirens really were. The dictionary definition of a siren is, one of several sea nymphs, part women, and part bird, who lure mariners to destruction by their seductive singing. This may be hard to believe, because many false stories have put a different meaning to the word siren. This is the real deal about sirens. The Seirenes sisters!
